Blessed

I was sitting in Church today, and it dawned on me how blessed we are! I have an amazing wife who thinks I'm the Cat's Meow, we've got a bun in the oven and are surrounded by a lot of people who love us and support us! Thank you Jesus for this season of our life!

Today we are done with week 27 and starting week 28 of the pregnancy. We've only got two more birthing classes, then we are "certified birthers"... or something like that. Our next $452 appointment with the OB/GYN is on monday, the 31st. And before that my wife needs to have a glucose test... I am told this is a routine test to check for gestational diabetes. A friend of ours told us they make you drink a cup of something like high fructose corn syrup and then they check your blood and see if your sugar levels go up or down. She then went on to complain that they tell pregnant ladies to eat healthy, becuase your eating effects the baby, but they turn around and make you drink a more sugar than you would have consumed if you indulged every Ben & Jerry's craving. We're looking forward to it....

Week 27

 Pregnancy Ticker

Ok, so I have to start by saying this is my first blog. I have a friend who wears a shirt that reads, "No one reads my blog." Which is pretty commical, knowing that I never even knew he had a blog. All that to say, I'm a beginner.

Anywho, my wife and I, married in November '08, are now on the road to parenthood! We are pretty stoked! But let me pause for just a moment to give you some background. I've been a Youth Pastor here at a fairly small church for the past 4 years and for the past 2 years I was "just friends" with a girl my age who also attended the church. With all eyes on us, we maintained a propper friendship for over a year until, after prayer and council, we announced our engegment to the church and our families! We had skipped the dating thing and that shocked many, but those who knew us were proud. And not too long after the weddeing we were pregnant!

So now we're working with the youth at our church, while managing the effects of pregnancy. I knew I was in for a ride when after announcing the pregnancy, a father of two leaned over and said "good luck!" No one ever told me about the great mental effects of pregnancy... people tend to skip that part when talking about having kids.

We are on the downhill side of this pregnancy and I think we've got the hang of it. She says something, I bite my tounge and then one of us appologizes. She does great communicating with me that she knows she's being irrational and super sensitive, but that's just how she feels right now. Before the pregnancy I was the super sensitive one who needed things to be reworded in hopes to not hurt feelings, but now roles are reversed.

Well, that's all I've got for now....
I'm gonna go borrrow my friend's shirt.
